Alligator Repair in Asphalt

Not also is asphalt alligatoring ugly but it is often the final stage before asphalt must be removed and replaced. Alligator repair in asphalt must be dealt with quickly and efficiently. FloMix polyurethane asphalt repair material provides a strong, solid and quick solution.

To begin, use a scarifier on alligatored asphalt repair area. This will bring out fresh asphalt that is clear of any oils and/or chemicals. Preparing the asphalt in this way will promote adhesion between FloMix and the alligatored asphalt repair area. Next, sweep or blow out cracks so there is no dust or loose rocks. If you encounter water or any kind of moisture, you will need to use a torch and burn it all out. If the appearance of the alligatored asphalt repair is critical, make sure to mask out the area with duck tape.

Mixing a FloMix Bucket
Remove all contents from bucket. Using FloMix bottle “a”, carefully pour contents into provided 5-gallon bucket then add special sand. Next, shake bottle “b” thoroughly and pour into sand mixture. Mix with a paddle-mixer, using a drill. When mixture is completely wet, pour FloMix onto cracked asphalt and use a trowel or lute to smooth material into cracks. (In colder months or when there is little time for the repair, catalyst can be supplied as an additive to speed the reaction.) Remove tape and feather edges to existing asphalt. When repair is smooth, sprinkle topping sand over repaired area to create surface traction. Allow material to cure for about an hour and then sweep or blow any excess topping sand.
