Q: I have a slab of concrete that my pool equipment is attached to. It is begining to flake off in small pieces. What can be done to stop this process? What has caused this to happen? A: The only time I have seen concrete flake is when the concrete is four sack concrete or after a gas fire has occurred on the concrete from car accident. From your description of the problem, I am unable to determine why your concrete is flaking off in pieces. You could cover the top of the slab with a thin layer of FlexSet to try to stop the surface from flaking. |

Q: We have spots in our asphalt that are 1 to 2 A: You do not need to use aggregate with FloMix. However, by adding dry, clean aggregate you increase the volume, giving you more product and thereby bringing down the cost. This should only be used in the pot holes. You must cover the pot hole first before covering your entire driveway with FloMix. |

Q: If I buy Polyflex DS Asphalt repair what type of sand should I use? How much sand is added per gallon? I have very shallow repairs and would not need agregate. A: You would need dry and clean sand. You can add 25 lbs of sand per gallon of polyflex DS asphalt repair. I agree you do not need aggregate for shallow repairs. |

Q: Our HOA is responsible for about a mile of asphalt streets. We have a lot of areas failing and have tested two 5 gallon buckets of Flomix already. We know it would take a lot of buckets to try to deal with our problem, so are there any other methods of purchasing Flomix in larger sizes than the 5 gallon buckets that would be more economical? A: The widespread use of FloMix can prove to be cost effective with a number offactors to consider. Firstly, there is no significant demolition ofexisting Asphalt so your prep labor costs are reduced, with no demolitionyou also have a smaller hole to fill, so you use less material, as FloMixonly provides structure where it is currently absent. The repair shouldhave a longer life expectancy than traditional repair materials, soamortized over a longer time period, your per annum maintenance costs willbe less. As a self leveling and self compacting material, no heavyequipment or expensive equipment operators are required. This reduces yourlabor costs, along with the fact that the finished repair is now imperviousto future moisture contamination which is probably the reason the Asphaltbroke down in the first place. On shallow depth repairs, FloMix can befeathered into existing asphalt down to a thickness of 1/8" so a wider areacan be covered than with bulkier more traditional repair products. There are also volume discounts available based on the number of skidspurchased. That will bring the cost down between 10% and 15% depending onquantity. Another way to get a more economical repair is to use BlackDiamond aggregate. This can be used in areas that have a 1/2" depth or more.For an additional $5 per 25 pound bag you'll get a polymer coated 3/8"basalt aggregate that, when mixed with a 5-gallon pail of FloMix willincrease your volume output by 40% for about a 5% increase in cost. Thefinished repair has better mechanical properties, better load-bearingability and an overall longer life expectancy. You could also use a locally-sourced aggregate like a pea gravel, as long as it is clean and dry. Dampor dirty rock will compromise the polymerization process and result in aweakened finished repair. Black Diamond is a polymer coated Basalt that hasbeen washed and dried and the polymer coating has a superior affinity forthe polymers in FloMix, making for a great mechanical bond as well as asuperior chemical bond.Please contact Roklin sales for a quote on skid quantities with or withoutthe Black Diamond aggregate.
