Q: What is the elongation of Flowmix and can it be used to fill a gap between concrete and asphalt pavement?

A: The elongation of flow mix using just liquid is a 100 per cent elongation and when you add sand the elongation of flowmix is 10 to 15 per cent. It can be used to fill a gap between concrete and asphalt pavements. Flowmix bonding characteristics between concrete and asphalt are excellent.

Q: I own a house that had a driveway laid in 1969. I bought the house in 1986 and the blacktop was not in good shape at that time. Deep cracks, spider cracks, etc. After purchasing the house I spent a whole summer making my own hot mix consisting of tar, sand and limestone to fill in and smooth the cracks. That fall I sealcoated the blacktop and obtained respectible results. Over the years I repaired cracks and sealcoated on a regular basis. Fast forward to the present time and now, after 40 years it appears that a total dig out and replacement is in order. Before I embark on that project, is it remotely possible that I can coat the entire black top surface (100 ft x 12 ft) with your product and obtain favorable results without completely ripping everything out? The blacktop is 4

A: The indication, from your description of the condition and the 40-plus years of your driveway, tells me that you have surpassed the life of your driveway. It is my recommendation that you totally remove and re-pave it. If you were to use our material it would cost $2,400 to cover your driveway. The life of that repair would be hard to estimate. Good luck with your project.

Q: The Roklin Vari-Flo PD 15-50, is that for the Flexset and Flomix or not at all?

A: The Roklin Vari-Flo PD 15-50 is the polymer-dispensing machine for PolyFlexDS - the POLYMER ONLY version of FloMix, FlexSet and Concrete Welder. The appropriate aggregates are applied AFTER the polymer is dispensed. WithFloMix and FlexSet the required aggregate is mixed into the polymer in thebucket to create a polymeric concrete slurry and then placed. The motorizedpail mixer can be used to mix the aggregate into the polymer in buckets.

Q: My son bought a home that has 5-8 cracks in the concrete basement walls that run from the top to the bottom.. There are also cracks that run horizontal and diagonal along the walls. How could this be repaired. W. Ralls

A: Roklin products work will on flat surfaces and are not used on vertical surfaces. I do not have experience in making this type of repair but there are a number of materials used to repair the problem you describe. You can find them on the internet. I would try www.askthebuilder.com.
